Instabilities in vortex ring dynamics

We consider vortex ring dynamics for incompressible Euler equations. We shall explain how to obtain the following infinite norm growth results: (i) filamentation (formation of a long tail) from a traveling vortex ring, and (ii) vortex stretching from the "head-on collision" of two counter-rotating vortex rings. This is based on joint works with Kyudong Choi (UNIST).
